...college, or army? 16 years old, experienced in Muay thai kickboxing for 1 year. About to enroll in jiu jitsu, and i'm in an under ground fight club. I love fighting. It started in third grade when i wrestled with my friends all the way up to 5th...I left wrestling for awhile. Came back as a freshman learning the art muay thai. I go to the gym 2-3 hours a day. I have a friend (body builder) who helps me with my lifting. I love mma, i know the basic jiu jitsu submissions, and i love everything about it...The only problem is that my grades have dramatically decreased this year to F's and D's.. I love learning, i just like learning when i'm truly motivated but school has just stopped being a motivation for me. I've talked to my mom about either joining the Army or going into Mma after highschool. She thinks its insane, and my dad will think that also. But school is not my passion in life. Everyone plans to go to college. Its a future that i don't want to pursue, just having to learn, then go out and get a job, and then get money, have a family and die. I'd rather have passion that i love doing, making a little money here and there. But, if i don't go Pro in mma (which is hard to do of course) then the Army is my second choice. Any constructive criticism or support from anyone? Any ideas or opinions? Help of having to tell parents plans after highschool.. Thanks

Well, as a 46 year old who never knew what she wanted to do with my life and had no real passion for anything, I'd kill to have passion for something.
Go with the MMA - if that doesn't work out, join the army. If you don't care about money, that is the way to go.

Before i got to my senior year i didnt want to go to school but now i understand school is the only way your going to survive in the world. Times are just going to get harder and harder so i suggest you keep going to school, who knows it might turn out to be better than what you expect, in mma your just going to have a bunch of health problems, and there are not so many fans of mma i dont even know the name of of more than one mma fighter. Im intrested in joining the military im a senior and i really want to join the Navy, more action now that their kicking ass in Libia. The Army is not a bad decision you wont do so much fighting with your hands against an enemy but youll get to use a gun and travel and get paid for it. Its all up to you and its your decision good luck.

You can actually do all three of those.

Your Mma could help you in the US Army or USMC. Your can go to college at take ROTC and become an officer in the US Army, and You can join the army as an officer
