I started indoor cycling about a year ago, and I feel it is the best workout I can get short of running (which I ditched, due to shin splints). I used to belong to a gym and took a class there, but for about 6 months now I've had my own bike and have been working out at home. I use Sufferfest videos on iTunes for most of my workouts, and when I get off the bike I feel like my ass has been kicked. It's awesome!

However, I do have some concerns. I feel like the computer isn't recording my calories burned accurately. Here's an example: I just finished Sufferfest 3 - Break Away, Climb, and Sprint! and my average stats were a cadence of 80 rpm and a resistance of 7-8 out of 10. I biked 13.4 miles for 52 minutes, and in all that did 2 8-minute climbs.

You know how many calories I burned? A measly 322!!! Seriously?! I feel like I burned a lot more than that, like closer to 600.

My question is: are these computers really accurate, or am I getting a better workout than it says? Am I doing good for myself, or am wasting freakin' time?? I'm getting married in a little over a year, but I'd like to get my weight down and maintain a good figure before that, so I'd like to know if I'm doing ok, or I need to push harder!!!

Thanks ahead of time.
