i need help with my action replay dsi? it isnt connecting?

ok so i was trying to reset my action replay dsi i even tried updating it and it says the same thing even though i have it hooked up it says that i cant do anything until i attach the usb cord but the cord is on there ive made sure its in good but it still wont work can someone tell me wat to do
for some reason im pretty sure it doesnt connect to my computer at all my comp runs on windows 7 if that helps
