I've been a HUGE fan of music (all genres, decades, etc) since I was about 15, and now that I'm 20 I decided the other day that I want to learn to play the guitar. I'm tired of sitting around listening to and loving music, but never doing anything else about it. So I've been learning to play the guitar, and I'm doing fine...and eventually I'd love to write some songs on my own.....but I feel like I just can't write anything decent when I look at the lyrics of songs written by musicians who I admire immensely....
...am I over-thinking this? Any tips or advice? I guess it's because I consider lyrics to typically be poetic, and I have never been a big poetry person (simply because I know I'm rubbish at it...even though I can write normal narrations/etc quite well).
