I'm horrible at push-ups and my soke makes our class do about 40-50 in a row (which is a real pain since i can't do more than 15 good ones) is there a way to be better at them? Any techniques?

Don't worry about it.

In the beginning it is always difficult but never say you cannot do it. It's okay to admit you're having a difficult time, but that you will do your best and get better as you go forward in your training.

50 pushups is going easy.

15 good ones? Next time try for 17 good ones. If you do 16, you did one better than previously.

So don't worry.

Your teacher should push you, but you just keep on according to your capabilities and push a little further.

Before you know it, you'll be doing 50, 60, 80 and 100 and beyond.

Push Up's isn't even apart of your Karate, isn't it just a warm up? Just do as many as you can in your spare time, wait a few minutes and try to beat the amout you just did and so on.. It takes time but it's alright, by the time you're 16 the number will increase quite a few.

You will need to do push ups on your own. Your young but that doesn't mean you can't do 50 push ups. I'm not sure what you mean by "excel" but i'm assuming you would like to participate in tournaments and increase your upper body strength.

Since push ups seem to be the only thing you're struggling with I recommend doing them every OTHER day and I promise you will get better and stronger.

Work on doing 3 sets of as many push ups as you can do ( for example 3 sets of 10 push ups per set or 3x10). Take a short rest in between sets but try not to make it anymore than 1 minute unless you absolutely have to. Every week increase your reps by 2 ( so next week you will be doing 3 sets of 12) with SHORTER rests in between sets.

Lastly, it all starts in the kitchen. Make sure your getting enough protein. You need at least .5g of protein for every pound of weight in order to build & maintain muscle. Best of luck!

your soke shouldn't push you to do something your not getting better at. go to www.hundredpushups.com. they have a free plan that requires no downloading. just look at it. in 6 weeks you could be doing a hundred pushups. i can do about 72 in 3 minutes. but you could stop halfway through and still be able to do 50. there's a good chance it would work well for you.
