If I get the same ps2 game, will it load the game I saved on my memory card?

So I rented the game Okami for ps2, I Absolutely love it. We have to give it back, but I want to buy my own. Well, I've invested 64 hours of my life on this game. I've saved said 64 hours on my memory card, so if I buy the game and run it on my ps2 will it load and play the game I saved on my memory card from the other Okami game?
