If i'm greeting guys by shaking their hands, should i also greet girls

the same way? and if so which hand? because i've heard somewhere that i should use my left hand when greeting a girl, it's supposedly impolite to extend the right hand which is apparently symbolic of males while the left is symbolic for female? Ugh this etiquette and symbolism stuff is a pain in the ... ;D
anyway... how do i greet girls in a group if i greet the guys of the group by shaking their hands.

NEVER shake hands with the left. It will make you look like an idiot. Greet girls by shaking their hand also, if that is what you do with guys. Besides, it shows girls that you are confident!

since you see such a difference in the 2 groups, then follow your gut and greet women different than men. I'm sure your actions will be appreciated by both genders

In a business-setting yes, shake hands. Never heard about shaking left hands though.

When they are your friends, if you're nervous, then just go along with what the other does. Don't make too much of a big deal about it and it won't be. Good luck.
