So, they cant spend jail time?
Instead of filing a lawsuit is it possible for them to spend jail time? I heard of defamation of character lawsuit but never anyone actually facing jail time...which I think is much better justice.

Is this possible? Would you ever file a lawsuit if you found out something like that was happening...especially if you can prove it?
It depends...certain things deserve legal recourse.
 
No. Just suck it up. People will always be spreading rumors about you. Don't crowd the judicial system because your feelings are hurt. You're one of the reason why we are laughed at as a society. No other country does this crap.
 
No. Unless it's a conspiracy against the government as in biological terrorist attack, then maybe the FBI might get involved.
 
I would do that. I don't say stuff that isn't true about other people, so if they try and do it to me then f'uck them. I would go as far as I could with it too. Nothing is more important than your name, you need respect. They are bad people and should be punished. It will shut everyone else up too, they will be afraid afterwards.
 
You can sue for just about anything, doesn't mean the Judge is going to take it to trial. I think it is stupid to sue someone because they talk shit about you, you'll have people like that all your life. In my opinion, such an act, means you do not believe people should have freedom of speech.
