im buying (2) 12" Alpine SWR-1222D (TYPE R). i already have a box to put them in.

im also planning on buying a Alpine MRP-M1000.
is than another amp that would be the same as this, but less expensive..?

and can you use ANY cd player on this amp and subs?

As long as the stereo has a sub pre amp out then you are golden.
That amp depends on 2 things. What OHM load will you be running? Best bet would be to run them at 2 OHMs. So you will need to find an amp that will deliver 1000 watts rms at 2 OHMs. You do not have to use the Alpine MRP-M1000, you can use a lower cost amp for them. Yep, sometimes brand matching can be incredibly expensive. Good thing is is that you can match these subs with any amplifier that can output 1000wrms @ 0.5ohm (for wiring all coils parallel to the amplifier) or @ 2ohms (for wiring subs in series/parallel) and have an excellent sound. Recommended brands are Alpine, MTX, RF and Jaycar. But these are just a personal preference.

As for the CD player, yes you can use ANY cd player including factory installed varieties, it's just that aftermarket ones have pre-out's and are much easier to use.
