I'm thinking of training/competing in MMA as a hobby. I'm 18.I liftweights, do cardio, and plyos 3hrs a day 6 days a week and I wiegh 175 lbs. So i'm in pretty good shape. I want to compete at lightwieght. The only problem is I'm only 5ft tall. If start training/competing I don't know If I'll just get slaughtered by taller guys with more reach. Can I get some opinions/ advice on this.

I will tell you that it will become more then a hobby....its a commitment...

you need to put in time, especially if you plan on fighting(and winning)....

I fought and trained hard for 2 and a half years...had a little less then 20 fights (mix of amateur kickboxing, Thai and MMA)...But now that Im in college, I cant find time to commit myself....

GOOD LUCK!!

Fight a huge guy. When you are cornered and the guys about to pound you to pieces you will be forced to channel your inner assassin and destroy him in a moment of killer adrenaline.

If this does not work then MMA is no good for you. You need killer instinct. It helps if the warrior gene runs in your family.

Try dropping to 155. You will get slaughtered at 185 (your current weight class)

yeah, you definitely a great build for a wrestler or judo practitioner, you should look into that if you wanna be successful.

MMA is great because size does not matter as much as boxing, cus you can take them to the ground, and that's where you will probably do most of your victories, because you are at an immediate disadvantage on the standup game. i would say drop a LOT of weight because you will be fighting guys that are at least ten inches taller than you in that weight class.

Ummm I hope you enjoy plastic surgery..or atleast enjoy what ur doing cuz MMA is no joke. I spent a week in a Jujitsu camp and thats not even close to what they do...I didn't last 4 days at the Maui Thai camp..its deadly dude. Train hard if you want to keep your face
