1. The NAACP was founded.
2. A black man and a white man were the first from the United States to reached the pinnacle of the world; the North Pole. (Henson & Peary)
3. There was a war in the middle East.
I'm sorry for those that are so negative they did not take the time to subtract 1909 from 2009 before criticizing my question.

I didn't choose the year. Time did.
 
Those events are not an omen. You pick one year and say some stuff that happened in it. But that year is a minor year in the span of America's history. I do not believe in omens; we in humanity make our own misery and success without the prediction from past generations.
 
Terry, you can probably report me for this, but that's a pretty stupid question for a Top Contributor. It's impossible to figure out what you are getting at!
