iPod touch question? ? charging? & the internet symbol at the topp left?

When i plug my iPod touch into my logitech speakers (i've had them about 3 years) the little charge symbol doesn't show up & i think it's charging but i'm not positive cuz i don't use my iPod as often anymore...
also the internet symbol at the top left (to the right of the word "iPod") no longer shows up even if i am connected to the internet

i am running on the newest software that you had to pay to upgrade i forget what it's called, lol. :]

also when i plug it into my computer it doesnt make the beep noise that means it is charging and the charging symbol doesn't show up either... help!!?
and it doesn't show up on my itunes....... greatttt.... wtf happened???

The plug in thing for and iPod touch is different than those that most speaker things use. Its new, proving my dock for the classic now useless for the touch.

I had a similar issue this afternoon getting it to show up on the computer, restart the computer, close itunes, power off the touch, keep unplugging replugging, that's how i got it.
