Is a 14'4 ft kayak to long to put on top of my Nissan Xterra?

My Nissan Xterra has a roof rack and I was standing next to a 13ft kayak thinking how will a 14'4 ft kayak fit on top on my Xterra. I'm about to buy the 2012 Malibu Xfactor and wanted to know if anyone knows if its possible to put a kayak that long on top of the roof rack. I would like to avoid buying a kayak trailer till later if possible.
