Is a hairstyle like Tom cruise's in A Few Good Men. Allowed in the Air Force

Technically, yes. As long as your hair does not cover your ears, is clean cut, and faded in the back than it is an acceptable hair cut. However, if you grow your hair to wear it goes over your ears or past your natural hairline on your neck, it is deemed unacceptable by uniform standards.

Yes, a style like Tom Cruise's in "A Few Good Men" is possible in the Navy or Air Force.

Navy: 4" on top tapered appearance on back/sides. Sideburns can't be lower than middle of ear opening.
Exact Navy Standards:

Marines: 3" on top tapered to #0 length(1mm) at the ears and nape of the neck. Sideburns maximum 1/8" in length. Cannot extend past top of ear orifice.
Exact Marine Standards: See Paragraph 1004(5)(b)(1)(2)(3)

Air Force: No absolute length standards but generally like the Navy. Does not have to be tapered to the skin at the nape of the neck and around the ears like the Marines.
Exact Air Force Standards, see page 12:

Yes it is. This is a common misconception even in the military itself.

The regulations state:
- your hair can not touch your collar
- not touch your ears
- not be below your eyebrows
- must have a tapered appearance
- not be more than two inches in bulk.

There are other regs, but this is for how it is cut and this applies after it has been fixed it for the day how it will be worn. My hair in the military looked like any other clean cut civilian. I had to pull out the regs all the time.

And I routinely pointed out that, technically, people that shave their heads are in violation. So are high and tight haircuts since they are not tapered.
