Is Blu-Ray not being promoted as well as it could due to price of DVD players

Blu ray is not the big thing it was advertised it would be. Upscaling DVD players play so well on big screen HDTVs, thus there was not that big of a demand for Blu ray movies. And now with the disappearance of Blockbuster form the scene, blu ray disks will become more rare as you will now have buy rather than rent them. Couple that with the fact, everybody I know including me, have a computer hooked to their big screen HDTV, thus getting high quality videos from the world wide web.
