I've been doing Tae Kwon Do for a while now, but I've recently stopped. I'm only on yellow belt. A kick-boxing class has recently transferred to my town and I started two weeks ago. I enjoy both sports but I stopped Tae Kwon Do because I lost the motivation to keep going because I felt that I wasn't learning something truly useful. I thought kickboxing would provide that. I love the honour and awesomeness you feel when you do Tae Kwon Do but I feel that kick boxing is really fun and will teach me something real, you know, to defend myself.

Is it a bad idea to continue these two sports at the same time? Will I get too mixed up with the individual moves? What do you think? Should I drop one? Or should I keep going with both?

Its generally bad because if you have 2 martial arts you will have to do them on different days and you wont have time to focus on one, a while back i was doing Muay Thai and Jujitsu and I was consitintley in and out of the martials arts gym, I would do 4 jujitsu classes and 4 muay thai classes in a week (because i wanted to get better and both and I wouldnt get better doing 2 classes of each) which means that one day I had to do two classes, It was exhausting, but since Taekwondo and Kickboxing are the same concept (striking, kicking) you can do it differently. I would recomend going 5 - 6 times a week, maybe do 3 tkd classes and 3 kickboxing classes, or 3 kick boxing classes and 2 taekwondo classes and then the next week switch. Personally if i had to choose between the two I would go with Kickboxing. Kick boxing teaches real good kicks and punches unlike taekwondo which teacher you alot of fancy jumping kicks. Ive done tkd for a free week trial and the majority of the things we did was air kicking and stretching, also for a workout we did like 40 pushups and 80 situps for me is pretty easy, in kick boxing we do alot ofo heavybag speedbag work that will push you to your limits and condition and strengthen your body, also kick boxing has better punches than tkd.

Doing two martial arts at the same time is not bad. However, if you do you should have a lot of free time. It is possible but difficult t remember all the techniques from both martial arts. In your case, Taekwondo and Kickboxing are very good martial arts to mix. If you want proof, look up Kwonkicker on youtube.
