is it bad to call your son lucifer when your christian?

i really like the name lucifer and all the people who i have told said that its really not good cause he would get teases and stuff (and its the devil's name). i was talking to my (christian) teacher about it and she said it was wrong. im not trying to be satanic or anything but i like that name and plus wasn't it the name he was given when he was in heaven. it is also meant to mean "light-bearer"

It's just a name. It's funny how people react to a name that they couldn't even prove the being's existence.
 
The swastika was a religious symbol before the Nazis used it but I don't wear one on my arm. The word "gay" used to mean happy but when somebody asks how I'm doing I don't say I'm gay.

Calling your son Lucifer is a really bad idea no matter what it used to mean or how much you like it.
 
Yeah if you like the light bearer concept why no Lucius or Luciano its the same but sans the evil and besides you know he'll get stigamatized for it. I wouldn't suggest it for your son's sake and if you are religious I think it would raise some eyebrows and could lead to your son having a feeling of spiritual guilt because of him sharing a name with the prince of darkness
 
i call my little sister lucifer haha cuz her name is lucie and she is a brat XD
always jokingly tho. never in a way of seriously calling her the devil haha
 
I would go with no only because if you shorten it then it will be Lucy, that's assuming your are going to name your son this.
 
Society would scar him. Look at what republicans where trying to do to Obama, because of his middle name "Hussein". But spiritually alone, it isn't wrong.


most people claim to be christians, very little are.
 
i wouldn't take a chance on that name. also the people are right. the kid would
get teased by other kids. you have to think of him, too.
 
well even if you like the name, think of your child and what he might go through

He will lose friends probably and be shunned by other adults.
