Is it legal to have bigger tyres on the front of my car than are on the back? UK?

I have a 1980 ford Cortina with bigger Profile tyres on the front wheels. Is this ok by law on UK roads?

dont know about your laws but here in states it dont matter what tire sizes one uses on their car

i guess it would be ok because you can have bigger on the back wheels so i presume you can do it at the front as well, so long as they are the same size either side to stop it giving an uneven ride
