My fear of religion has also brought up my fear of death. I feel as if I do not believe in the right thing I will be miserable in death, and if I do believe in something at all, that it could all be a lie in the end. How should I deal with this?
No its not normal. First of all you've got to deal with the fact that there is no heaven or hell. that means if you die you just die, no burning or getting bestowed with wings. Hell does not have enough fuel to keep the fire burning for "eternity".
At the very centre of religion is our fear of death. Religion makes the claim that without it, you will endure eternal torment in hell; with it, you have eternal bliss in heaven. If you buy into this story, then you will always live in fear: "did I make the right choice?" is the question that will keep you up at night. For myself, I'm a non-believer. I'm almost certain that when I close my eyes for the last time, I won't open them on any kind of afterlife. I will simply cease to be. When I was a believer, I was afraid of death and what it might hold for me. Now, I'm no longer afraid (though the dying process does scare the crap out of me). I hope you find the answers you need to this, but I guarantee you one thing above all else, you won't find those answers in religion.
To my death is nothing but the end of life, and life is worth living: not because of religion all religion does is give people a reason to die not live. Believing in a religion just leads to a lot of unhappiness.
Religion is a list of rules, usually made by man,and imposed on others and you should be afraid of that! What every heart desires is a relationship with your Creator. He says that if you seek Him with your whole heart you WILL find Him (that relationship). Try praying and asking for His Spirit to guide you to the Truth.
When you die it will probably be a lot like before you were born.
If you can remember your time before conception, and it was bad,
then maybe you should be scared. But for me it was nothing,
which is what I presume death will be.
Not scary at all.
