Is it ok to move date around on Aniaml Crossing Wii.?

Just wondering if it is ok to move the date around on Animal Crossing? I hear you can make more money? Not sure how to get good price foe turnips tho? I moved the date and my turnips were spoilt??

ANy ideas or tips???
