Is it possible to connect an old stereo receiver/speakers to a flat screen tv?

I have a JVC receiver/speakers model #CA-MXS4BK and a Sony Bravia flat screen tv Model # KDL32EX301. Can I connect the two? I'd like to run the speakers from my tv.
The receiver is over 10 yrs old..................................

There must be an amplifier between the speakers and the tv with it's own power supply.If you haven't got this don't try it.

Yes, you can.
Although I'm having trouble locating a good diagram of that model receiver, you should be able to take the audio out of your TV and connect it to the EXT input or AUX input on any amp.
