Yes, it is possible to use Guitar Hero: World Tour accessories to play Guitar Hero Metallica. I have many friends who do this, plus there's a compatibility with the instruments for almost all of the Guitar Hero games. Guitar Hero Metallica only was released with a guitar of it's own and you have the entire band to play as in the game. So, you're able to use the GH:WT accessories for this (including the guitar). It would seem absolutely pointless and a waste of money to but a separate set of instruments just to buy another version of Guitar Hero. Which is why, all of the Guitar Hero instruments (regardless which game they were released with), are able to play all Guitar Hero games.
