to minijack connection.? Okay, I am about at the end of my rope here and extremely confused. I recently bought a Kenwood DDX512 from Crutchfield. I bought it for a variety of reasons (direct IPOD for one), mainly because I was told I could connect DVD monitors in the back (for the kids). Now, the thing is, the monitors that I have in the back are actually a separate dual screen DVD player setup (Magnavox). However, the DVD player is so horrid with that thing. That being said, I noticed that both of the monitors in the back have an AV input, as a minijack.
Everything works as expected, except that I cannot get a video feed to the back monitors using an RCA (for back of HU) to minijack cable. I get audio, but no video, though sometimes I get a very ghosted and rolling image intermittantly.
So to troubleshoot, this is what I have done: bought and tried new cables - same result.
Tried 3 other monitors that have the same input (I know the guy at radio shack who let me use theirs to test) type and got the same result.
So, Crutchfield ended up sending me another HU, thiking that was the missing link.
Of course, when I get it, the same exact thing happened. I talked to the local car audio and video guy and he said that he could not think of anything else it could be.
So I called Kenwood directly. The guy said that the cable type I am using and the set up "might not be supported" However, the guys at Crutchfield said that it was (are the ones who told me to buy the cables that I did) This makes no sense to me since there are loads of these types of set ups (with the mini AV input) so how would it not be supported. Anyhow, he suggested that I connect a regular TV using RCA to RCA cable. So I got my kids small LCD into the car, plugged it up with an extension cord, and voila - video and audio!
So my question is this: Is a connection between the HU to monitors using a minijack possible at all? Do I have any recourse besides using an RCA connected monitor?
