I have always had an extremely strained relationship with my father. No. He did not abandon me as a child or molest me or anything that you would typically see a lifetime movie based after. He has some behavior patterns that we picked up on a few years ago. As his child we do something he doesn't agree with, he won't speak to us, we feel guilty for absolutely no reason, he ropes us back in and the pattern starts all over again. The last pattern was the last straw for me. He told me to have a nice life and that he didn't want to talk to me ever again and I was honestly relieved that I didn't have to talk to him ever again because he is so very stressful.

With relationships such as this.. (side note, I am 26, independent and grown) Is it uncommon to not feel any kind of love for a parent? I really feel better when I don't talk to him. I don't wish ill upon him or his wife but I really could care less if I talk to him ever again. Does that make me an effed up daughter????
