Is limewire bad/ viruses?

I know a lot of people use other things like torrents or whatever but I just dont trust those. anyways I had limewire on my old computer that was slow anyways so I didnt care about viruses but now I have a brand new laptop and as for now im using home sharing to get songs onto my new computer cause itunes prices are rediculous and im not sure if i want to put limewire on this new computer so my question is is limwire bad for computers? is there a better way for free music
 
torrents are WAY more safe than limewire. on most sites people actually rate the torrents to let other people know they are safe. on limewire, you're on your own.
 
It is not if you are smart about it.
Look for a large amount of hosts, this means a lot of people trust it.
Look at the size, sometimes if its really small it will be something weird. Go for the biggest.
Preview It, go about half way download and start the preview, if its crap, delete it right away
Have a trust-able firewall, its the key to safe limewiring.
