There are many, many similarities between drug use and religion. Drug addicts know drugs are bad for them, but they keep taking drugs, just like religious people know religion is nonsense, but they keep believing it anyway. Both drug users and religious people are aware of the consequences of their actions but they have the freedom to make a choice. Do you think society would be better if people were given the freedom to make a choice about drug use like they are given the freedom to make a choice about religion? If heroin was legal, would you pump that poison into your veins? I wouldn’t and I doubt any more than a minority would and that minority is always going to be there regardless of whether or not heroin is illegal. This is just like religion; there will always be a percentage of people who will believe in bogus myths and partake in ridiculous rituals regardless of whether or not it is illegal, right?
