Are people are so afraid to die that they will believe anything that makes them seem eternal?

Christianity is a cure for death, not the fear of death. Those chosen by God will live with Him forever.

no, its also a way to set ethics, back then people didnt have secular philosophies like those developed during the age of enlightenment or oriental ones to tell them what to do, religion was a good way to resolve the anxiety of not knowing what to do of your life (it still is for a lot of religious persons)

Not at all. Christians want to honor our Creator, God, by listening to his voice and doing his commands. He has told us the truth about what happened and what will happen. There is a hell and a Heaven. There will also be a Millenium for the 1/3 of the human race that survives the tribulation and all the saints. The tribulation seems to be right around the corner. Some think we are in it now, but I believe we are in the beginning of sorrows as Jesus taught this would happen in Matthew 24. We need to be aware of what God has warned us about and be ready when Jesus comes again.

No. Religion isn't *just* any one thing. It is as complex as the human mind, and so efforts like yours to reduce it to simplistic labels are doomed to failure.
