Is riding my bike 4 miles a day 5 days a week enough exercise?

20 miles a week sounds pretty good too me.
The calories burned are relevant to your heart rate and the length of your exercise, not the miles cycled or run. because of the efficiency and speed of a bicycle, you'd have to cover more geography to burn an equal number of calories. Good Idea!
Take Care!
P.s - Wear a helmet!

Yea that's okay, but what would be even better is to just run about three miles a night and you will steadily lose lot's of weight, also drink lot's of water.
