Is there anyway to get email notifications sent to my cell phone as a text?

I have both Yahoo mail and Gmail. I haven't figured out how to make a notification come to my cell phone as a text message. if you know how to get email notifications sent to your mobile using either gmail or yahoo, please help me out.
