Japanese ps2 games in a european ps2?

Well, I has gonna buy klh 2 final mix+, but when I got to know about the region stuff... I ordered it before knowing it, but the game never came, and they told us if we wanted to order again or leave the money for future purchases... Well, I know I need a modchip and blabla... Butt is it easy to put on a modchip? Or is it better to buy a japanese ps2?
