Growing up in the church, I always heard (and believed) that there were countless fulfilled prophecies in Jesus Christ.

These days I'm a little more skeptical (to put it lightly)... so could somebody humor me and post one of these fulfilled prophecies? What I'm asking for is not a point blank assertion but two Bible passages... the first being the OT prophecy, and the second being the NT reference to the fulfillment of that propehcy. Please give the book, verse and quote.

Thanks
To "The Least of Jesus' Brothers"... I know that many, or most (maybe all?) are extremely vague. I found this as I was reading the gospels - which conveniently give you OT quotes to prove the prophecy.

I was hoping somebody had a good one though.
Mo' Monkeyhead - thanks for your contribution but I'm looking for quality over quantity, and quotes. That's assertions with verse references attached. I guess it's better than nothing - though strange that 'nothing' is the only other thing I've received.
Booth, "read the gospels" is not what I was looking for, as I made clear in the question. I don't see why it should be so hard to come up with a fulfilled propehcy, since so many are supposed to exist.

I am sure there are plenty, and you can probably find them on the web somewhere.

But so what?

If some OT passage says that the messiah will ride into Jerusalem on a colt that has never been ridden before, and then some NT passage says that he did this - what does that have to do with anything? How can this be proved? It is pure hearsay.

Now, when some OT passages say that the messiah will:
Become king of the Jews.
Build a new temple
Bring peace to the world
Bring a single religion to the world.

all in his mortal lifetime, then those things can be checked against the historical record.

Why is it that all the reported messianic prophecies ( and the far greater number of pseudo messianic prophecies ) that Jesus was reported as fulfilling could not be confirmed after 40 CE? And all the messianic prophecies that could have been confirmed after 40 CE Jesus failed to achieve?

What Christians consistently fail to think about is that there is a very good reason why the vast majority of Jews continued to be Jewish and did not become Christians.

The answers you get from xtians will be a). ad hominim arguements against you b). exhortations that you quit questioning your faith, or c). vague correlations--which could be fulfilled by hundreds of people.
