I recently bought the book Black Hole Sun, which is a scifi, but I was sad to notice it was the only decent scifi or horror on the shelf. All the others were desperately bad romance novels about sexy vampires. What has our world come to? D: I just want them to be well-written, and...

I'd be great if they had...:
- Space travel / Aliens / etc. Go for it, I'm open to anything with scifi.
- Disease outbreaks. Gimme zombies, baby.
- Murder plots. Psycho killers, unexplainable deaths, that kind of stuff.
- Supernatural creatures. I love werewolves, shapeshifters, creepy things like that -- but not vampires, really.

They can't...:
- Have romance. It can have romance in it, I would just prefer it to not be the main idea of the story.
- Be in a series. If it's REALLY good then go ahead and suggest it, but I don't enjoy spending a bunch of money on one thousand different books in one series...that's what I have anime for. ;3

I've already read:
- The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod

...and I need to get around to reading:
- Black Hole Sun
- Red Riding Hood
- Shiver
- The Likeness

Thanks for your help,

Try SECRET ENEMIES:BATTLE FOR THE GALACTIC ARM by Buchko. It's available at Amazon.com, and is the first of a series. The second book, TOUCHKILLERS is out, and the third, THE CONCOURSE WAR will be out in January. It's a good old-fashioned science-fiction adventure -- no vampires or Zombies in the first two books, but aliens, space battles, murder and espionage, policial drama, and a lot of action. Some romance, but nothing outrageous. I love it.

The Likeness was excellent, did you read the first one, In the Woods? She is an excellent writer

The creepiest horror I've ever read was The Other by Thomas Tryon, or anything by H.P. Lovecraft, that guy was a FREAK! LOL

Psychothrillers....the Agent Pendergast series by Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child, absolutely fantastic, read them in order you will not be able to put them down!

I know the perfect sci-fi series for you! (Because I'm exactly like you with all the stuff you don't like and what stuff you'd prefer to read)

It's called the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams. It was written years before this whole vampire obession thing came about so has compltely nothing to do with it.

I hope you read and enjoy it - it's brilliant! :-)

Cell by Steven King

Its got zombies like people but they don't eat people the just are crazy and kill them and this one zombie guy try and make more. No romancie just a father tryin find his son. Its got normal people killing normal people, people blowing up zombie like people, people having crazy mental breakdowns, its really good!
