...cd-r if i just want the data? okay maybe im doing this horribly wrong. Im new to downloading movies and torrents and all that good stuff. I use limewire (yeah yeah i know trojans spyware, yadda yadda...used it for yrs for music) but i once downloaded benjamin button and grand torino as AVI's, converted them with my divx converter, burned them to dvd-r's and perfect they played on my dvd player (extrenal one, ya know, connected to my t.v), any ways ive been trying to down load fired up, but everytime i down load it, its a corrupt file...so ive gone to torrents. I found one with good comments and reviews so its not corrupt but when i downloaded it and tried to drag the file to my divx converter it said either "unsporrted file type...Divx converter does not support this file type. please make sure the input video is a supported input for divx converter." what does that mean...all i know is it a avi movie...why wont it convert what does it mean unsupported?

and everynow and then it says "file does not appear to contain an audio tract"...

why was it, it worked fine on benjamin button or grand torrino but i cant get any other avi file of any other movie to say anything other then ......unnsupprted file type"...am i doing something wrong?

this might sound silly but im like retarded(yeah i know not politically correct spare me the lecture) when it comes to this...so i need a simple enough explanation or answer as to what to do...i just dont get if its a avi why wont it convert?

okay so later i download a cucusoft avi/mpeg to dvd/vcd/svcd/mpeg converter pro verson... i try to drag file in and it says " could not open media file! you may need to install some video codec to open your video file"

so it takes me to a page to downlaod a codec package...which i do but it still just says it cant open it.

and yet another question: I have an avi file which i can watch on my computer... yet it wont let me drag it and convert it says the same thing about unsupported type. But i can watch it? Im going out of town and would like to take the file with me to watch at a pals house...can i burn an avi to a dvd-r and then play it on someone elses computer or will it not open on another computer as a avi? should i burn the avi on a dvd-r or cd-r?
