Making a snorkel for a pit bike? Wise or foolish?

The crappy foam filters just dont cut it when riding hard through big puddles and so on, i was thinking to make some sort of snorkel, an old radiator host coming from the carby, sticking up till its below the handlebars and have the foam filter on top, should provide adequite snorkeling dont u think? Or is there some crazy reason it wont work? Please give me your thoughts on this idea or another way to overcome sucking in water through the air filter.
 
well ive seem four wheeler with snorkels a few times sure it wil help some it wil look foolish an dit might not help that much either they was driving in creeks or along river blanks would drive it water a few feet deep long as they could hold on to it it look like crap but they was driving in places where you needed a boat
