Moms of 2+ kids!! Know of any good vehicles for a family car? SUV or Van?

We are looking to buy a new car - I don't really like to go the used route so a new 2011 or 2012 (if they are out yet)

We have a 1 year old and are expecting our 2nd in Sept. We also have a lab and a little Bichon who tend to travel with us if we go on vacation or running to the groomers. Do you know of any good vehicles to check out?

If you own the vehicle yourself does it get good mileage? Would you recommend or Not recommend a car to us?

Omg the Rav is tiny! I agree with you! The Honda CR-V also seems to small were looking at something with a 3rd row seat for the dogs. I do appreciate the help.. you helped me rule out smaller SUV's ty! : 0
 
We just bought a Ford Fusion. The trunk is HUGE! We travel a lot and we needed a lot of packing space. Basically, we hesitated between the Ford Escape and the Ford Fusion, but we thought the overall ride was more comfortable in the Fusion.

However, I think you need a SUV if you tend to travel with your dogs. The least expensive SUVs like the Escape, Tiguan, Santa Fae, CRV, Rav4 will probably be too small. You would think that you have a lot more space in those, but you don't really - espcially when you have 2 kids and you can't take out the seats. So, the Explorer, the Expedition, Veracruz, Endeavor would be good options.

Personally I don't like Vans... but the nicest one out there is the Toyota Sienna.

Expeditions are awesome. Point blank, to be such big vehicles they are not that bad on gas & have plenty of room for kids and pets! (And I can even fit the hubby in there when I feel like it, lol)

I recommend a Honda CRV. We just bought one about 6 months ago, drove it to Florida and got very good gas mileage. They also keep there value, and are very roomy. Don't buy a Toyota RAV i know somebody that has one very small on the inside.
