Motorola i450 cell phone help?

its not my phone, it belonged to my sisters friend, but she gave it to me. I tried putting in a tmobile sim card in it and it said please wait to enter a passcode and said emergency use only. Do i need to get the system reset or something? What can I do so I can use the phone?
it says please wait to enter special code and doesnt change
when i close the front screen says subsidy lock
