$1800 repair. Is it worth it? My Nissan Pathfinder has been a great car with few problems. Now it needs an exhaust manifold leak repaired in order to pass emissions. I'd say "no way" to the cost, but I've heard Nissans have much longer lifespans than other kinds of cars. I'm wondering if any mechanics or car enthusiasts can advise me about whether it would be more cost effective to fix it or to replace it. Thanks!

I am a mechanic and I can't see what they could repair that would cost that much. They will probably replace the entire catalytic converter system. Get another opinion from another place and see what they say. Have your car scanned first for a trouble code.. At AutoZone they do it for free. It is probably not even the catalytic converter. Could be just an oxygen sensor or someting else.
