my bluetooth dongle won't show up on my windows7 pc.?

my bluetooth dongle won't show up on my windows7 pc. it used to work, but the drivers were overwritten. now whenever i plug it in, it lights up, but i can't use it. i tried installing new drivers but it says there's no dongle connected! help?
