My family and I live in Florida. My cousin sold a car to a woman who neglected to buy insurance for the car. The woman's son then wrecked the car and injured other motorists. Although my cousin received $600 cash from the woman who bought the car, the new owner failed to register the title in her name, and she failed to buy insurance. Now the victims of the accident are going after my cousin. The owner has been uninsured for over 2 years. What defense does my cousin have if any in the state of Florida?

His defense is that it's no longer his car. He can't get pinned for what he didn't do. Even if it's not in his name, he can't get in trouble for it, legally.
