My DVD doesnt work in my Blu-ray player via my Home theater system?

it play Blue ray dise fine but when i put DVD in, the blu-ray player seem to be working fine but no video from TV and no Audio from the home theater system.

the only cable i connect is blu-ray HDMI into home system and Home system out to tv.
