First of all, I don't want an answer that basically says to "just chunk it in the trash"; I already have a new DVD player, but I want to see if I can fix my old DVD player, or at least be able to find out why it isn't working, and possibly fix it to the point where I could use it as a spare, or to give away or whatever.

When I push the eject button on my DVD player, it won't open. I know that it isn't the band for several reasons: A) because it will, eventually (and grudgingly) open, and B) I opened it up and saw that all the bands were intact and unbroken.

I think that something may be sticking, because when I try to get the DVD player to open, I hear a clicking noise - similar to what you'd hear if you were to ride a bicycle with a baseball card in the spokes. Also, when my DVD player opens, it opens and then abruptly closes - the only way I can actually put a DVD in the tray is if I were to turn the player off, place the DVD in the tray, and then turn it back on. Also, when I'm watching a movie, sometimes the player will quit playing and I'll hear that clicking again.

I know that it is some sort of a mechanical problem, (and probably not impossible to fix.) I don't think that anything inside is broken, because when I opened it up I didn't see any pieces that were physically broken. I know awhile back when I opened the case and turned the player on, I actually saw a part that looked like it wanted to move, but would vibrate and cause that noise. Do I need to grease it, or put some other kind of lubrication in it? Or, what do you think I should try to do?
One more thing: I know that DVD player should not be making that noise, because when I first got it, it didn't do that.
