My motorola v3i cellphone would not start?

I just received new Motorola v3i i bout on ebay, i put every thing together and charged it for like 4 hours and when i try to turn it no the screen lights up for few sec and i can see "hellomoto" logo but then the phone automatically shuts down? any ideas? is this a known issue?
 
Seems like the phones firmware is corrupted - i'd say either return the phone or take it to any moto service center and get it checked and no this isn't a normal.
