Need help with jailbreaking my iPod touch 1st gen!!?

So I just updated my iPod touch to the latest software (2.2.1) and had no idea about the jailbreakme.com website. Now is there any way I could install the jailbreak install.app with the safari browser on my touch even though I have the newest version? I have been looking everywhere for this and cannot find it. Please help and make sure I can install it without connecting it to the computer. Thanks
 
No, you have to plug it into a computer. There are several good quality videos on youtube that take you through step by step.
 
by the sounds of it you need to downgrade your firmware before you can jailbreak
 
You can't do it anymore because the new software disabled the jailbreak feature so you can't download apps for free. I have an itouch too so don't worry, you can buy them apps for a reasonable price, don't be too stingy.
