Basically, I'm trying to display from my sony vaio laptop (windows 7) at widescreen resolution (which the laptop is normally). But when I connect the laptop up to the monitor via VGA, the resolution options change to the standard 800x600 and 1024x768 with no widescreen options available. Then when I disconnect, the screen res settings on my laptop revert to allowing me to select a widescreen resolution. My monitor tells me that it should be in 1440 widescreen for optimum display but I don't know how to do this. Please help!
