New dvd rewriter isn't working?

I got a new DVD rewriter (Internal / GH24 Super Multi DVD Rewriter 24x), I followed the directions (Connected the SATA Data Cable and the SATA Power Cable), but whenever I start up my computer, the DVD drive won't open, nor does my computer find any new software?

Help much appreciated. Thanks.
 
Make sure the sata power is fully connected. Push it in all the way. Even if the dvd drive wasn't connected to the data but had power it should be able to open up.
