NOT breeding Leopard Geckos..?

I have a male (I think) Leopard Gecko who is only 5 months old. I would like to get a 2nd leopard gecko, but know males don't get along (always?), and adding a female will likely breed, which I DON'T want. There are enough homeless animals.

If I get a female, and pull and freeze any laid eggs, would this work? Or will it make her keep laying eggs? What are the stressors on her body from laying? And what are the chances of the egg becoming bound?

I know if birds laying can cause major calcium deficiencies, and becoming bound is especially common in cockatiel hens. And if you pull the eggs from a bird, they will just lay more, making the situation worse. I am not sure about leopard geckos though.

If it is too stressful on a females body, I wont get a 'friend' for my male. I can't find anything on housing a male and female outside of a breeding situation online...

Any advice would be appreciated!

I do have the space for 2 geckos in my tank, which is a 10gal with a 4 level custom made interior.

Leopard geckos don't want friends. They tolerate some. But they don't want any. In fact, they generally prefer to be alone.

You could just keep them in separate cages.
