NTLDR is missing press Ctrl+ Alt+Delete to restart?

i have a dell windows 95 computer. i took the hard drive out pluged it into my other computer as the slave and formatted the disk. i pluged everyhing back the way it was not i keep getting this message when i turn on the computer. i want to try to install xp but it acts like the disk isnt there. then i tried a windows 95 disk and it gives me the message. i tried using a windows flopy boot and that didnt work eather. my hard drive is epmty nothing on it. what do i do?
ps: please use definitions or small words because im new at this and i dont know all the abriviations and trems.

the computer is a windows me but i ran 95 on it till i formatted the hard disk. now its back in the computer it came from and i get the message. if i can just get it back to 95 il be grateful

That happened because they are two different systems. Windows 95 uses fat32 where as xp uses NTFS. Those two file systems are not compatible with one another, as far as installing windows goes.

The best fix is to format the hard drive to ntfs. That will erase everything though so you will need to backup what you want to keep. The windows xp install will have an option for doing that, formatting the drive to ntfs.
