oil light acting strange on BMW 318 year 2000.?

BMW 318 2000. the RED oil pressure light goes of within second or two of starting as it should, but intermitently comes on & goes off but its YELLOW when it does this, WHY??? ps just did a full service.
its the little picture of an oil can at the top of the dash.
 
have you considered that the oill level is getting low, and need a top up?

ok you did a service, if it didnt cure the problem, then id suggest you goto a beemer dealer, it could be the oil pump on its way out, or the sensor just needs replacing.


cautionary tale: we did an engine swap in 525... it was lovely... a week later the be em drove past, so i nipped out and grabbed the guy.. (he was only a young un)

oh yeah, he says, the day after the rebuild the oil light came on (he didnt want to pay for an oil pump) and his dad, put his hand into the wiring loom and gave it a waggle... the light went out, and he continued to drive it... except dad, had pulled the bulb out of the light holder... and the engine was a scrapper... so, when some MORON says oh its the wiring...
