hi, my brother and i were driving, and he tryed to set off from a traffic light with a 3rd gear instead of 1st(that wasn't on purpose). The engine shut down and he tryed it once again, then he reswiched(if you understand me) gear to the 1st and then everything was fine
i am interested, what could happen to car if you do that, and will there be any consequences

Hi yes
this puts an overdue strain on the engine the extra pressure it puts on the bearing surfaces reduces the life of the engine. this would take time to explain but this is what automotive engineering is all about.
the petrol engine is not the most effective engine as it is only 40 % effective.
so only an idiot does this sort of thing to an engine. engines work best with a light load not a heavy load.
why a gearbox is needed to reduce the loads placed on an engine evidence is seen every day a good example is the turbo diesel used in certain makes used for pulling heavy trailers they eventually blow up the engine has been known to explode when too much load has been placed upon it.
the crank rods comes through the side of the engine block doing things like trying to pull away in 3 rd gear. so then you need a whole new engine as the block has a huge great hole in it so it is no longer use-able. sounds like a really stupid idea does it not the brain of a gorilla as we say.
