Please tell me if this "green" Idea is stupid? It concerns the trucking industry?
I have a few thoughts on how to turn the trucking industry green. First, those 120 gallon fuel tanks they have on each side of the truck. Seems to me those could make huge rechargeable batteries. Second, another area that could be used for more battery power would be just behind the cab. Third, another more spacious area for yet even the largest battery would be under the 53 foot long trailer.
How to charge all these? Solar panels on top of the trailer and!!! Once park as law requires 10 hours rest time, a small but effective wind turbine that would erect itself from the trailer once parked. Also, truck stops would be required to provide a 220volt 3 phase outlet to help the charging process even more. Of course the truck stops would erect their own wind turbines to create free energy that they sell to the truckers!
Good Idea? Or stupid and unpractical.. Yes, I know about weight. But, the weight standards could be raised just a little to accommodate from I figure to be 6000lbs of batteries and charging equipment.
